Our History
The first Knighthawks Tennis Team was founded in 2023 by Amber Miles. The program began when Amber’s daughter left a local private school to homeschool and lost the opportunity to participate in school tennis. Recognizing a need within the homeschool community, the team was established to provide local homeschool students with the opportunity to learn, compete, and enjoy the game of tennis. Our team is built on the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and a Christ-centered environment. We strive to develop not only skilled athletes but also strong character, fostering meaningful relationships through practices, matches, and training opportunities. The current coaches are Ryan and Amber Miles. The team also works with tennis trainer Ben Berry of Laurel Country Club. Players meet weekly at the country club to develop their skills, learn proper technique, and gain a deeper understanding of the rules of the game. As the program continues to grow, additional practices will be added, with the goal of meeting at least twice each week. While practices begin in September, the competitive season runs from February through April. Each season includes approximately 10–12 scheduled matches, providing players with numerous opportunities to compete and improve. Last season, our team participated in the first Homeschool State Tennis Tournament alongside the Jackson Victors, Meridian Flyers, and Hattiesburg Forerunners.
